Our daily routines look a bit different to life before lockdown, but it’s never been more important to focus on the physical and mental health of ourselves and our bubbles!
The change in routine might have seen a few healthy habits slip as we sample that home baking, do yet another fridge fly-by or are tempted by a cheeky wine.
If you fall off the wagon, take it easy on yourself and get right back on it.
Nurture yourself, take care of yourself, be kind to yourself.
For many who aren’t having to do that daily commute at the moment – now is a great time to make sure 7-8 hours sleep is part of your new routine. Sleep helps the body rest, restore and recover.
Nourish your body
Plan your meals so you have healthy choices ready to go for those times that hunger strikes. Take your time, practice slow eating and enjoy every bite. Be sure your diet is getting you all the vital nutrients you need or consider adding a multivitamin to your daily regime to fill any nutritional gaps.

Move your body
Aim to get outside and move your body every day. Even a walk around the block will help both your body and your mind. When you move your body, your heart pumps your white blood cells, your immune defence, to all parts of your body.
Boost your Hygiene
Practice good home hygiene. Follow the Ministry of Health guidelines around washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use tissues to cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
Handwashing is important but don’t also forget to clean commonly touched items like phones and electronic devices, keyboards, mice and electronic controllers too.
